🎉🎉 We have a pupdate from Dotty (formerly known as KitKat) 🎉🎉
Dotty is doing well! Our daughter was in Kindergarten when we adopted Dotty and now she`s going into the 5th grade so we wanted a dog who could be her "childhood dog"- which Dotty is.
Our daughter and Dotty sleep in the same room each night. Dotty`s bedtime is between 8:30-9pm (she gets grumpy late at night and it is her "tell" that she needs " to go to bed." Dotty dutifully walks down the hallway, goes into the bedroom, waits for her bed to be pulled out, performs her half circle turn routine, and lays down. Once her eyes are closed, she won`t wake up until the morning
Dotty is a type of dog that likes to warm her belly outside in the sun. She has an elevated outdoor dog bed that she can sleep peacefully in for hours.
She also favors the Blue Tick Coon Hound side of her gene pool and howls every morning when she goes outside. She doesn`t care much for squirrels and makes a big ruckus when she sees a squirrel on her walks. She gets a morning and evening walk and she loves to go to the park. She is friends with two neighbors on our street and gets excited when she sees them, she jumps up and gets lots of pets from them and they are just as happy to see her. Dotty is a very good girl!

“Fox is the sweetest, gentlest boy. When we brought him home in December of 2022, we expected a difficult transition. He doesn`t trust many people, and we thought it would take him a while to warm to us. We couldn`t have been more wrong - from the very first day he came to us, he`s been attached to my hip! He follows me wherever I go and always finds the coziest spots to curl up.
He still struggles with reactivity to new dogs and people, but he seemed to understand that we were his family from day one and didn`t mind sharing space with his brother, Bunji. He`s also made significant progress in his journey with reactivity - going from major blow ups every time we saw a dog on walks to looking to us for reassurance and recovering quickly. It`s an ongoing process, but we`re incredibly proud of how much progress he`s made in the last year and a half. He is ridiculously smart, and will pick up new tricks or commands within a couple of tries.
He loves to camp, hike, or snuggle up with the family. Fox isn`t the perfect dog for every home, but he`s the perfect dog for us. It`s been a privilege to watch him grow his confidence, learn to trust, and show all of his quirks. We`re endlessly grateful to PNWCDR for caring for this special boy so well and bringing him into our lives!”

We have a Pupdate on Vivid, one of our foster fails!
�“Vivid came from a horrible situation and we were told he had a bit of a "wrap sheet". When we first got him, he was terrified and would not even look at us. It was obvious he was abused and afraid of people. Slowly we built trust with him and he began to open up.
Today (two years later) Viv is a total Velcro dog who loves hiking, playing fetch, biting waves, barking at the mail man, and laying on the couch. He now helps to welcome in other PNWCDR foster dogs and show them the ropes. His fear of people and his anxiety have greatly diminished. Although he didn`t have a great start at life, today he`s living out his senior years doing all his favorite things!”

“Sooty, now Rio, is doing well!
He is the happiest dog and has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He loves ball, frisbee, get filthy, and swimming. He has a cattle dog sister that they often are asked if they are twins, but the two of them have such a ridiculous sibling love. There are not many quiet moments in our home and we love it that way! Unfortunately Rio has elbow and hip dysplasia, so we`ve been working with our vet since he was about 9 months old to manage the pain and keep him going. However you wouldn`t suspect a thing with how happy and willing he is to do anything.
Needless to say, we love him very much!”

“Pepper is doing great. Very much spoiled and she loves her daddy! She is still anxious around the public and kids/noises but we are working with her and she is improving a little every time. She loves most other dogs and loves to chase squirrels and rabbits.
We are leaving for our annual camping/RVing trip to Yellowstone and Jackson hole. Pepper is a great little travel companion and while she get car sick from time to time, she gets excited when we start loading up for camping: She even has her own trailer we tow behind our E-Bikes.”

We have also welcomed another daughter into our home and Rosie had shown a surprising motherly instinct, always wanting to be near the new baby. 🐾🌟 Adoption Pupdate! 🌟🐾
“River is doing great and enjoying life here in North Idaho. We are renting a place on 20 acres, so she has tons of room to run and sniff every day. On the weekends, we love hiking and exploring new places. She has incredible energy and stamina, so she makes an awesome hiking buddy.
She`s become quite fearful of (most) strangers, so we recently enrolled her in training classes, to help her work through this fear. She`s extremely smart and learns very quickly, so we think proper training should help a lot!
Aside from that, she just had her 1st birthday on May 21st and we celebrated with a road trip through Utah. So far, she`s been to Eastern Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Utah with us. Future travel plans include road tripping through more of the Southwest, New England and hopefully parts of Canada.
River has been such a blessing and we both believe she was meant for us. She`s brought so much joy into our lives and helps us in so many ways. We look forward to all the adventures to come with her. She also has an Instagram page, where I document all of her adventures: @roamingwildriver”

PUPDATE! Coco (previously Claire) is doing great. She turned 1 recently, and is growing beyond the puppy stage. She`s happy, playful, and well loved.
We do have to focus on her manners as she can be reactive and very protective of the family, but overall that`s what we expected with an ACD.

“We couldn`t be more in love with Cooper. He`s so fantastic and so cute we had a really hard time trying to figure out which pictures to send.
Cooper has had quite a year since coming to live with us! He`s participated in a beginning agility class, taken a trip around Lake Union on a vintage wooden boat, been camping, and has traveled to Portland, Canada, and various islands nearby. His one true love though is his frisbee.
In typical cattle dog fashion he is my shadow -- when he`s not helping me around the house with loading the dishwasher and doing laundry, he`s hanging out next to me on the couch. We are so lucky to have him as part of our family and we can`t wait to see all the ways he continues to learn and grow. We`re all living our best lives together...even Hanx, his older brother I think would agree."

🐾🌟 Adoption Pupdate! 🌟🐾
“We are doing great. Here is a picture of Axel and Lexi. They spent the day at daycare, which they do every Tuesday and Thursday. On Monday noon Axel is in a nose work class with Sharon Gakstatter. At 6:30 he does agility with Shelby Tilden. (She attended the World Agility Games in Paris last month). He excels at both activities.
On Thursday evening we are in a Rally Obedience class with Laura Poppitz at Best Friends. He excels at that as well. We do daily evening walks and play frisbee in the back yard. He loves Lexi beyond imagination. I come in second and Rick third.
He sleeps on the bed with us until about 1:00 am then we ask him to self crate. He does and stays in the crate until he is released to go outside in the morning. He can`t seem to get enough work, but he doesn`t get into trouble. He pretends to by bringing a sock or slipper to me, pretending that he may chew it. He never does.
He does take some time to get used to new folks, but is usually good about it. Daycare has been a godsend in that regard. He is absolutely adored by Lexi, me and Rick. Thank you so much for entrusting him to join our family!"

Special pupdate coming in from Banjo (formerly Maverick)! Banjo has matured into a sweet and more confident pup. His entire litter was a little on the shy side, but Banjo has began to break out of his shell more and more. He enjoys exploring the city as much as he does nature. He is a wonderful companion to his dog mom and she loves him dearly ❤️

Pupdate!! We love hearing from our adopting families and receiving updates on how the rescue dogs are living their best lives in their fur-ever homes!
Lottie:
Even at three years old, all Lottie wants to do is follow her big brother Benny around.
She continues to be a big snuggler and will often sneak her way onto the bed at night for some pre-bedtime cuddles - and will always try to get to the “tallest” sleeping spot. She used to be really afraid of men but she warms up to them a lot quicker now, to the point where she will be in their lap if they are sitting on our couch.
We feel very fortunate to have stayed in touch with the families of Lottie’s litter - last summer we even got together for a sibling meet up!

**Max** (fka Akai)
Max is doing really great! She absolutely loves her dog brother, my husband, and me. She’s getting more comfortable with our kids and has started to bond with our older son. She participates in their bedtime and wakeup routines and will sometimes crawl into our older son’s bed to snuggle with him.
We’re working on her with reactivity to strange people and dogs. She comes to the office with me every day and for the people who are willing to be extremely patient and bring treats, Max has allowed some interaction. I’m trying positive reinforcement when on walks and she calms down when there’s a dog nearby. She also reacts to nail trims as if we’re trying to dismember her so we’ve had to take that pretty slow too.
I’ve attached some photos. She is such a joyful, adorable goofball. She is the cuddliest cattle dog we’ve ever had and she pesters and looks up to her dog brother, Red. They’re attached at the hip and play super well - she bites him like a heeler and tackles her like a pit bull. She likes to spoon him when they nap.
She’s even been able to integrate with some of the extended family dogs though we haven’t given her as much dog exposure as we’d hoped since the timing lined up with that dog respiratory illness going around.
She’s also pretty tolerant of our smaller pets though she likes to yell at them (celebrate with them?) during mealtime. Fortunately the rabbits are completely unfazed.
We are so grateful to PNWCDR and to Max’s foster family for bringing us together. We love this little maniac.
